- يقسم الغلاف الجوي علي أساس الاختلافات الحرارية:
1- المتكور الدوار Tropopause/Troposphere - 80% من الهواء - ارتفاعه 16 كيلو عن سطح البحر.
2- المتكور الأعلى Stratopause/Stratosphere - يوجد به الأوزون - علي بعد 50 كيلو من المتكور الدوار.
3- المتكور الأوسط Mesopause/Mesosphere - علي بعد 85 كيلو من المتكور الدوار.
4- المتكور الحراري Thermosphere - علي بعد 450 كيلو من المتكور الأوسط.
5- الفضاء الخارجي Exosphere - علي بعد من 450 – 900 كيلو.
6- الفضاء غير الكوكبي Magnetosphere - علي بعد 900 كيلو ونطاقه صغير.
